About the Role

Racks Central is looking for a Data Centre Engineer to join our growing Data Centre Operations team in Pasir Gudang.

This is an excellent opportunity for a fresh graduate to start a career in the fast-growing Data Centre industry. Full training and on-the-job guidance will be provided to develop your technical knowledge and operational skills.

You will gain hands-on exposure to Data Centre infrastructure, IT systems, network equipment, monitoring, incident management and mission-critical operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Shift Team Leader and Data Centre Operations team in maintaining safe, secure and reliable Data Centre operations.

• Monitor Data Centre systems, equipment, alarms and infrastructure performance during assigned shifts.

• Perform routine inspections and identify equipment abnormalities, operational issues and potential risks.

• Assist in troubleshooting Data Centre infrastructure, IT equipment, network connectivity and cabling issues.

• Support the installation, testing, maintenance and removal of servers, network equipment, racks and structured cabling.

• Assist with incident and event management, including recording, escalation, follow-up and closure.

• Support Data Centre access control and ensure security procedures are followed by employees, customers, visitors and vendors.

• Assist in coordinating vendors and contractors during installation, maintenance and troubleshooting activities.

• Work closely with Facility Management and other technical teams to monitor alarms and resolve operational issues.

• Maintain accurate operational logs, checklists, incident reports and shift handover records.

• Support emergency response activities and follow established Data Centre procedures.

• Ensure all activities comply with Racks Central's SOPs, safety requirements, security standards and ISO/IEC 27001 best practices.

• Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives to develop technical and operational capabilities.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Team Leader or Data Centre Manager.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, IT, Mechanical Engineering, Data Centre Engineering or a related discipline.

• Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

• Internship or academic exposure to Data Centre, networking, electrical systems, IT infrastructure or critical facilities will be an advantage.

• Basic technical knowledge with a strong interest in Data Centre operations and technology.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures and safety requirements.

• High level of integrity, accountability and professionalism.

• Proactive, responsible and willing to learn in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

• Willing to work 24/7 rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays.
