Role Purpose

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the efficient and reliable operation of all critical infrastructure within the data center, including electrical, mechanical, and building systems that support 24/7 uptime and mission-critical environments. The role ensures compliance with operational standards, optimizes facility performance, and supports capacity growth while maintaining strict safety, security, and regulatory requirements.

The successful incumbent will oversee operations in Malaysia.

The Facilities Manager leads a team of technicians and vendors to deliver best-in-class facility operations and excellent customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of all MEP systems, including UPS, generators, chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, switchgear, fire protection, BMS/EPMS, and security systems.

  • Ensure continuous uptime and optimal performance of critical infrastructure.

  • Execute and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs in line with OEM and industry standards.

  • Maintain strict operational procedures (SOPs, MOPs, EOPs) to ensure safe and consistent operations.

  • Ensure network efficiency by keeping firmware, security patches, and malware signatures up to date, and conduct annual vulnerability scans and penetration testing.

  • Monitor the data center and supporting critical facilities daily to ensure secure hosting of IT cyber-infrastructure.

  • Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and capacity reviews for power, cooling, and space.

  • Lead incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for facility-related issues.

  • Escalate and communicate incidents in accordance with internal processes.

  • Implement corrective actions and preventive strategies to minimize operational risks.

  • Oversee vendor performance, service contracts, and third-party maintenance activities.

  • Ensure safe work practices, method statements, and permitting processes are followed at all times.

  • Manage procurement of parts, spares, tools, and consumables.

  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and construction teams on new builds or retrofits.

  • Lead, train, and supervise facilities technicians and shift teams.

  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in facilities management, preferably in data centers or other mission-critical environments.

  • Strong technical knowledge of MEP and critical infrastructure systems.

  • Experience with BMS/EPMS systems and interpreting technical drawings.

  • ITIL certification is a plus.

  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage vendors effectively.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond quickly under high-pressure situations.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.

  • Customer-focused mindset with excellent communication and reporting skills.
