Role Purpose
The M&E Lead is responsible for the design oversight, operation, maintenance, and continuous optimization of all Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEP) systems within the data center. The role ensures high availability (24/7 uptime), operational efficiency, energy optimization, and strict compliance with safety, reliability, and industry standards.
Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end operations of all MEP systems, including electrical power distribution, HVAC/precision cooling, fire protection, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
Ensure 24/7 availability and reliability of all critical data center infrastructure.
Plan, schedule, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure optimal system performance.
Supervise and coordinate vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure quality and compliance with operational standards.
Ensure adherence to applicable Tier standards (Tier III / Tier IV) and maintain high system redundancy and reliability.
Monitor system performance, analyze operational KPIs, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for system failures and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
Support data center expansion, commissioning, retrofits, upgrades, and change management activities.
Drive energy efficiency initiatives to optimize Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and overall resource utilization.
Ensure strict compliance with safety standards, operational procedures, and effective incident/emergency response management while providing strong team leadership.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
At least 7–15 years of experience in MEP engineering, with 3–5 years in data center operations preferred.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems including MV/LV distribution, UPS, and generator backup systems.
Expertise in HVAC and precision cooling systems, with familiarity in BMS/EPMS platforms.
Solid understanding of data center Tier standards, redundancy design, and mission-critical infrastructure reliability.
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to perform effectively under high-pressure environments.
