PASIR GUDANG, Malaysia, 30 June 2026 - Racks Central, a Singapore-headquartered data centre platform with a growing regional footprint, yesterday marked a major milestone for Southeast Asia's first AI factory campus at its RCJM campus in Pasir Gudang, Johor.
The milestone comes as Phase A of the campus, the 70 MW RCJM1 facility, is now fully committed ahead of its targeted ready-for-service date in Q1 2027. The strong take-up reflects accelerating demand for purpose-built, high-density AI infrastructure across Southeast Asia.
Held on-site on 29 June 2026, the Strategic Partnership and Milestone Ceremony brought together strategic investors ESR and CAF II, local authorities, project partners, and financing partners involved in the development of the 510 MW campus. Racks Central also marked a talent-development collaboration with Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan to build a skilled local workforce for the campus and the broader data centre ecosystem.
Located in Iskandar Halal Park, the campus is purpose-built from the ground up for AI workloads to deliver energy-efficient, AI capabilities at scale to hyperscalers, cloud service providers, and enterprises across Southeast Asia. It also forms a key part of Racks Central’s strategy to establish a seamless AI data centre corridor spanning Singapore, Johor and Batam.
Bobby Wee, Founder and CEO of Racks Central, said: “We're not building another data centre in Johor. We're building a campus of AI factories, purpose-designed for AI workloads. For years, Southeast Asia had to go elsewhere for world-class compute, and the economic value went with it. We want to keep that value here this time, along with the jobs, the skills and the local ecosystem they enable.”
Southeast Asia is experiencing sustained growth in AI adoption, cloud computing, and digital innovation. AI-driven compute demand is projected to rise far faster than traditional computing through the end of the decade, driving the next wave of demand for scalable, high-performance, AI data centre infrastructure.
Racks Central operates a colocation data centre in Singapore, serving enterprise and cloud customers. As part of its strategy to develop an AI-ready data centre corridor across key data centre hubs in Southeast Asia, the company is building its Johor campus in Iskandar Halal Park, Pasir Gudang, comprising four large-scale AI developments with a combined capacity of up to 510 MW.
The campus is engineered for the most demanding GPU environments, with advanced liquid cooling and high-density power distribution, and successive phases configured for the latest AI processors. RCJM1, the first phase of the campus, offers 70 MW of IT load and is targeted for ready-for-service in Q1 2027.
