SINGAPORE – 22 April 2026 – Racks Central, a carrier-neutral data center operator headquartered in Singapore, signed an Electricity Supply Agreement (ESA) with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Malaysia's national energy utility, to power the first 100-megawatt (MW) phase of its AI data center campus currently under development in Johor.

The rapid growth of AI workloads is driving unprecedented demand for data center capacity across Asia-Pacific. Johor has emerged as one of the region's premier destinations for digital infrastructure. Racks Central’s upcoming campus will support hyperscalers, cloud operators, and AI-native enterprises running high-density workloads.
Johor offers strategic proximity to Singapore's established connectivity ecosystem, access to large-scale power infrastructure, and a supportive operating environment enabled by the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). The campus has been engineered for high-density compute, advanced liquid cooling infrastructure, and flexible hall configurations.
The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) in March featured Racks Central at its Annual Media Conference 2026, recognising the company's role in advancing Malaysia's position as a competitive hub for regional data processing and in fostering high-value local talent. The project reflects the country's digital infrastructure and economic development priorities.
“Johor has everything we need to build world-class AI infrastructure - proximity to Singapore, reliable large-scale power, and a supportive operating environment. Today's partnership with TNB secures the energy foundation for that vision. We are here to serve the highest-value AI workloads in the region, and we are here for the long term.”
– Bobby Wee, Chief Executive Officer, Racks Central

Sustainability and community commitments
Separately, Racks Central has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with renewable energy suppliers, integrating clean energy into the campus's power mix from the outset. The MoUs establish a framework for renewable energy procurement supporting Malaysia's national energy transition targets.
The company is also committed to long-term engagement with the communities in which it operates, and will invest in local workforce development and employment as the Johor campus grows.
